Vintage Whitlock? 1957 Mid Century Abstract Oil Painting Signed GW Framed

This listing is for the original oil painting that you see in the photos. I purchased it at an estate sale in Oregon where I was not told its history. It is signed “57 GW”. “Whitlock” is written on the stretcher in a couple of places so I think that “Whitlock” might be the last name of the artist. I also think that the “57” represents 1957. I think that it most likely that it was painted in the USA but I do not know that to be true. I leave it to the buyer to decide who painted it, where and when.
It was framed as you see it when I purchased it. The wood frame measures close to 28 ½ by 23 ½ inches. The area of the painting exposed by the frame measures close to 23 1/8 by 17 1/8 inches. The framed painting weighs close to 3 pounds 14 ounces.
The condition is much like you see it in the 14 photos after the general description. The painting is in good condition with no damage. The paint appears to be stable with no flaking. The painting or frame might benefit from a cleaning. The frame has some of the finish scraped off on the high areas some of which you can see in close-ups. The frame feels solid and not likely to fall apart. Otherwise, painting and frame are generally fine and as shown.
I guarantee this painting to be as described and represented by the 14 photos after the general description. The photos are part of the description. Please look at all of them.
Please know that the lighting in my photos is uneven and that there might be shadows or reflections. The colors on my monitor look close to but not exactly like the actual colors. Different monitors may show different colors. I often say that an item measures or weighs “close to” because in my opinion no measurements are exact and some things are difficult to measure.

I frequently purchase signature delivery for my more valuable packages because of the possibility of them being stolen off of a porch or damaged by weather. I often but not always ship the same or the next day. Often, I have a double wall box custom made for larger items and that might result in a short delay. When I use packing peanuts, they are usually biodegradable. Sometimes, I use used boxes.
