Hantel Pewter Miniature Teddy Bears

Description

The larger bear is a Hantel Collectors Society member gift issued in 1999 called Archie Bear.  He measures 1.5", wears a blue bow and has a a patch sewn on his belly.  The smaller is 1 7/8" and also wears a blue bow.  I do not know his number identification.
Originally established in Warwick England in 1997
by  Frances Wilson.
Most of these models were
characters from 19th century literature. In 1980 Hantel produced the first hand painted articulated figures in pewter.  In the same year the company moved to
Scotland and continued to produce finely detailed, hand painted, jointed pewter miniatures.
In June 1999 Hantel  was taken over by Mr Patrick Mansfield of Tower Enterprises Ltd, who for the last
twelve years had been their agent in Japan. The Hantel name was retired in 2007.
The owners of Hantel / Alba Sales are retiring and once the existing stocks are sold there will be no more manufactured.
