This is a VERY COOL vintage music industry folder issued by El Rico, Inc. of Atlanta, Georgia to prospective promoters. They were highlighting various artists they represented, and 12 of them are pictured inside. Mother's Finest, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Eric Quincy Tate and Bandit are just some of the bands shown, and there are 1976 and 1977 calendars on the back cover.
The photo of Mother's Finest in the lower lefthand corner inside is autographed by drummer B.B. Borden, who also drew a small arrow to his picture of him wearing fringe, bell bottoms, and platform shoes! This was autographed on October 9, 2015 at the Arena Theatre in Houston before the Marshall Tucker Band took the stage when they opened for Charlie Daniels. BB, who moved from Mother's Finest to The Outlaws to drumming for the Marshall Tucker Band, graciously signed this, while members of MTB huddled around, chuckling at the vintage photo of Borden!
The one and only B.B. Borden was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee. B.B. mowed yards to buy his first drum set from Sears. Completely self taught, he moved to Atlanta and started playing the “Chitlin' Circuit" all over the south. Performing every genre of music possible, he was noticed by the up-and-coming rock group, Mother's Finest. Recording albums and touring internationally, he went on to play and record with southern rockers Molly Hatchet. While touring with fellow southerners The Outlaws, he struck up a musical kinship with the band and went on to a long stint with group. While out on a southern rock mega tour, he met Doug Gray, lead singer of The Marshall Tucker Band, and bugged him for a gig with the legendary group. Twenty-five years later, he still enjoys his home with the band. He has also done side work with Mahogany Rush, the Fabulous Thunderbirds, and The Charlie Daniels Band.
Condition of this is rough; it has a water stain mark on it, a 2" split down the spine from the top, a 1 1/2" split up the spine from the bottom, and wear from age. Yet locating another one of these interesting music industry promotional folders could be nearly impossible!
